A 67-year-old disabled former landscaper has had his garden wrecked by run off water from a new housing development.

Keith Fisher who lives in Crucible Way in Cinderford moved into the Two Rivers Housing Association in 2014. But since last summer water run off coming from houses above where he lives has been running into his garden and has wrecked his lawn.

He said: “All the water is draining down from the houses above us and on the left into our garden and floods it.

“It all gathers in our garden. It started flooding and flooding. It won’t drain away because the water table is so high.

Two Rivers Housing Association who own the property have since installed a land drain around his garden but have refused to replace the turf that had rotted away from the flooding.

He added: “It is absolutely ludicrous. It’s not our fault. The garden was alright before. It was very wet until the last of the houses behind us. Now it’s not acceptable as a garden.

“I’m disabled, 67 my wife is 71 I can’t do it. I used to be a landscaper and I physically can’t do it.

“I don’t have £200 to spare to buy the turf.

“Two Rivers and installed a land drain around the garden which is linked into the storm drain system which in theory will take care of it.

“They refuse to reinstate the grass because there isn’t any they won’t pay for turfing.

“They’ve point blank refused to do anything about it.”

A spokesperson for Two Rivers Housing Association said: "“We resolved the water build up issue in a timely manner for Mr Fisher as we wanted to protect his home, however our Tenancy Agreement makes it clear that the garden is a tenant’s responsibility.

"While we regret the inconvenience this has caused to Mr Fisher, we are a not-for-profit organisation and have to prioritise how we spend our money and must therefore focus on the essentials.”
