Birmingham & Solihull 0

AFTER a run of disappointing results this was a good time to play bottom of the table Birmingham.

Cinderford controlled the game from the start and a poor Birmingham side never looked like scoring a point.

Fit again winger Nev Codlin marked his comeback with Cinderford's first try, going over in the corner after a good break and pass from Rory Teague.

Ed King set up Cinderford's second try, which didn't come until the half-hour mark.

The big lock made a 40-yard break but was left looking for support. Birmingham turned over the ball, but lost it straightaway to prop Yann Thomas who crashed over, with Teague adding the conversion.

With half-time approaching Cinderford number eight Dave McKee made a 20-yard break into the Bees 22 then passed the ball out wide to Codlin.

The move switched back inside to Teague, whose accurate cross-field kick to Lloyd Stapleton resulted in another try. Teague converted.

Ten minutes into the second half Teague and Stapleton repeated what is fast becoming a potent two-man ploy.

Yet again, Teague's cross-field kick was perfect, landing straight into the waiting arms of the winger.

Not to be outdone, Cinderford's forwards rolled a maul from deep inside their own half to the Bees 5m line. They regrouped and charged forward again – McKee touching down and Teague converting.

Two minutes later an interception try from replacement centre Rob Winchle rounded off a good day for the home side.

Winchle raced 40-yards to the line to bring some welcome Christmas cheer to Dockham Road.

The Foresters now take a break for the holiday season, with their next game away at Blackheath on January 7.
