CHILDREN from English Bicknor will be flying the flag for the Forest at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games tomorrow.

Youngsters from the school have been chosen to form the Guard of Honour for the Athletes' Parade.

The names of the eight children were picked out of a hat and they were over the moon to be chosen to be part of such an historic occasion.

They will set off from Lydney railway station tomorrow morning.

But they will miss the opening spectacular by film director Danny Boyle because they have to be out the park before tens of thousands of spectators head for the tubes.

The English Bicknor pupils are joining the 2,000-strong line-up of children welcoming 10,500 athletes as they make their way from the Olympic Park into the Olympic Stadium.

The small village school was selected from more than 17,000 taking part in the official London 2012 education programme for the honour.
