ARE the Tories trying to commit hari-kari?
Don't they realise that bringing in parking charges for the three main towns in this Ancient Forest is going to lose them at least two, probably even more seats in the next election?
The charges will mean those going to the doctors ( and vets in some cases) are going to be charged for visiting these, ie senior citizens, children, and those on benefits!
Also a charge for those vital Flu' jabs and other important innoculations. Certainly, in Coleford which I know best, they will have this to contend with!
Coleford is struggling now to attract numbers into this typical attractive old Market Town; to bring in parking charges in my view, and many others, will be its death knell!
If charges were to be approved, think of this: the pressure on those private and other car parks not owned by the councils (including the new Tesco car parking).
Also, to be fair to everybody, some kind of parking fee must be paid by council employees, including councillors, even if it is as a reduced weekly ticket. How do you think these people will react to this?
Certainly this idea hasn't been thought out properly. Everyone knows that these charges are bound to increase year by year. Please, Mr Robinson and others, think again!
