FOREST businesses are being offered expert support from a new advisor with Silicon Valley experience, alongside a cut-price coworking scheme aimed at helping commuters avoid disruption at Over Bridge.

The Growth Hub Gloucestershire has appointed entrepreneur Damon Oldcorn as its new business advisor for the Forest of Dean, providing fully funded guidance to local entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses.

Mr Oldcorn has founded and developed technology companies in the UK and Silicon Valley, having begun his career in sales and marketing before moving into board-level roles with multinational businesses.

More recently, he has worked as a board and business advisor to growing companies across a range of industries.

In the Forest, he will help businesses access specialist advice, funding opportunities and training, while providing support to those starting or seeking to expand a company.

Mr Oldcorn said: “I'm looking forward to building a strong and connected business community across the Forest of Dean, getting to know local business owners, and helping them make the most of the outstanding coworking facilities and business support services available.”

The Growth Hub is also offering businesses 90 days of access to its coworking facilities at Vantage Point, Mitcheldean, for £30.

The offer is being promoted as an alternative for Forest residents who normally commute towards Gloucester or Cheltenham and face disruption caused by the ongoing A40 Over Bridge works.

The Mitcheldean facility includes different styles of desks, meeting rooms and offices, as well as free parking.

Cllr Julian Tooke, Gloucestershire County Council cabinet member for business, economic development, planning and infrastructure, said supporting businesses was important for creating jobs, encouraging innovation and strengthening the local economy.

The Growth Hub Forest of Dean is delivered in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council, Forest of Dean District Council and BizSpace.
