A ROBUST message supporting all our woodlands came from the Bishop of Liverpool today as the HOOF campaign celebrates its first year.

The Rt Rev James Jones has sent a strong message to the Government that he wants to see a national forest estate retained.

His interim report says that he believes more can be done to capitalise major contributions woodlands make to many areas of society.

But he says the national strategy should take into account all woodlands, not just the ones in Forestry Commission control.

And campaigners will have to wait until the spring to find out who he believes should manage them.
