BINMEN have been accused of a lack of respect for fallen heroes after a two-minute silence on Armistice Day was drowned out by the sound of breaking glass.
Civic leaders and Royal British Legion representatives were outraged when the binmen ruined the best ever attended Citizens' Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial in Lydney.
Town Mayor Bill Osborne, who organised the service, said children observing the two-minute silence put the crews to shame.
Biffa have apologised and say they will be issuing new guidance to their crews next year.
