WHATEVER happened to the Forest of Dean Buildings at Risk Register?
At one time the Forest of Dean District Council brought the register up to date every year with a progress report on the efforts being made to keep up to 30 threatened buildings standing.
But, since 2006 the list has lain untouched - as neglected and forlorn as the ancient buildings it was set up to protect.
In the meantime, most of the entries on the list continue to deteriorate and conservation enthusiasts fear they may eventually have to be bulldozed as a danger to the public or fall down of their own accord.
But they form an irreplaceable part of the architectural history of the area - albeit in crumbling and rotting stone, brick, wood and slate.
