STAFF of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service were recognised at two recent award ceremonies.

The ceremonies, which celebrated the dedication, achievements and long service of staff at the Fire Service, were held at Stonehouse Court Hotel near Stroud, on Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 24.

The events recognised colleagues who have reached significant long service milestones, alongside individuals and teams whose work has made a positive difference across the organisation and the communities it serves.

Mark Preece, Chief Fire Officer at Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “These awards are an opportunity to recognise the commitment, professionalism and dedication shown by colleagues across Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

“Whether they are marking decades of service, supporting their colleagues, improving our organisation or helping to keep our communities safe, every recipient has made an important contribution.

“The values recognised through the Workplace Charter Awards are helping to shape the culture we are building together, and I am incredibly proud of all those who have been recognised.”

Long service honours were presented to Mike Ellmore and retired firefighter Chris Hill for 30 years of service, while retired Watch Manager Mark Schofield was recognised for 40 years of service.

Jo Glanville received a 25-year Gloucestershire County Council certificate, with further individual recognition going to Louise Read and Watch Manager Mike Drew.

Louise received the Chief Fire Officer Commendation Award, while Mike was recognised with the Chief Fire Officer Recognition Award.

Workplace Charter Awards were presented to Carole Pittaway, Crew Manager Sam Kelly, the Learning and Development Team and the Community Safety Team.

The Workplace Charter Awards also recognised Station Manager Lee Taylor, Communications and Engagement Team, Emma Black, the SkillZONE Team and Winchcombe Community Fire Station for their contributions.

Additional awards recognised Crew Manager Tim McVicker and Station Managers Dave Willis, Katie Jackson-Lockyer with the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal for 20 years.

As part of the celebrations, the Fire Service received external recognition for its continued commitment to creating a positive workplace culture and supporting its workforce.

Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, cabinet member with responsibility for the fire and rescue service, said: “These awards highlight the exceptional people and teams who make Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service such an important part of our county.

“From those reaching long service milestones to colleagues who have demonstrated leadership, innovation and commitment to others, each award reflects the dedication that exists throughout the organisation.

“I would like to congratulate every recipient and thank them for the difference they make to Gloucestershire’s communities every day.”

The Fire Service also received praise via social media, with residents congratulating the staff on their awards.

The Fire Service invited residents to the Coleford Community Fire Station for an Open Day event between 11am and 2pm.
