POSTERS at the entrance to Lakers School proudly boasted that one of their students had obtained an incredible 14 A stars and one A grade in their GCSE results.

But when Catherine Roberts, from Mile End, walked into the school to collect her results she didn't even notice the posters, or have any inkling that she had done so well.

"I am totally shocked," she said.

"I worked really hard and as my mum is a teacher she helped to motivate me."

Catherine (pictured) is going on to study chemistry, biology, maths and music at John Kyrle High School and has set her sights on a a career in dentistry in the Navy.
