LYDNEY Rugby Club may be struggling on the field but they remain the best supported club in the Forest.
Lydney' s loyal following have only seen them win once at Regentsholme all season, but the Severnsiders still average home crowds of 439 fans per match.
That makes them the fifth best supported team in National Two South – behind sleeping giants such as Redruth, Launceston, Taunton and Richmond.
Forwards coach Don Parsons said: "We do appreciate the support we get and we're as frustrated as anyone by recent results.
"This week's game at home to bottom club Westcombe Park is our biggest of the season and we hope people get behind us and the team.
"Redruth's Hellfire Corner is much publicised but Lydney has its own Hellfire Corner – along the bottom right corner."
Cinderford Rugby Club are currently pulling in around 325 supporters per home game in National One this season.
That's more than the likes of Barking, Blaydon, Birmingham & Solihull and Sedgley Park, but a far cry from Jersey at the top of the division, who now consistently pull in crowds of 2–3,000.
A record 3,648 attended their recent game against Rossyln Park.
Big established clubs such as Coventry and Fylde also remain relatively well supported.
The Forest's top football club Cinderford Town currently sit 14th in a table of the league's best home crowds.
Town are flying on the field, but their average Causeway gate is still only 126 paying fans per game.
They attracted a high of 163 for the game with Halesowen on January 2.
Poole Town and Halesowen are the best supported teams in the division, with North Leigh and Stourport Swifts the worst.
