Cinderford Town 0

Romulus 3

NORTHERN Premier outfit Romulus provided Cinderford with a stern test at The Causeway on Saturday.

The visitors, a big, powerful and determined side, ran out deserved winners.

Town had their chances in the first half and Lee Smith shot wide early on. Scott Wilson broke clear but his cross was behind Matt Barnes, who fired his shot past the post. Wilson also clipped the bar with a 25-yarder. Dean Lee set up Smith, whose shot was saved at the second attempt.

At the other end, Munday thumped a header straight at Ben John.

Romulus stepped up the pace in the second half and took the lead on 47 minutes when Nathan Jackson got rid of his marker Greg Lewis and found the net.

Jackson was denied a second goal by a tremendous Ben John save, with Greg Lewis clearing the loose ball.

O'Callaghan made it 2-0 with a low drive past John, then Ray wrapped things up with a third goal in the 77th minute.

Town's best chance of the second period fell late on to Jack Camm, but he lashed his shot over the bar.
