NO less than 168 runners, joggers and walkers turned out for Saturday's Ross-on-Wye parkrun in beautiful sunshine.

Teenage visitor William Griffiths of Corby AC proved quickest around the 5km course in 17 minutes 45 seconds, followed by over-40s Ralph Wilson (19.02), Andrew Skailes (19.31) and Matthew James (19.34).

Fastest woman in fifth overall was Sale Harriers tourist Chloe Elliott in a PB 19.40, who just pipped MonRoss Trailblazer Richard Cronin by six seconds.

U14 Corby AC girl Liz Griffiths was second fastest female in a sizzling 20.22 followed by Megan Gore in 22.32.

Blazers were represented at nine parkruns, with other Ross finishers Richard Bevan (22.34), Tom Gore (26.36) and Cat Finlay (27.48).

At Monmouth Chippenham Fields parkrun, Richard Foster came home fourth quickest in 18.29, followed by Andrew Wright (21.15), Neil Harper (21.35), Hannah Cockle (22.56) and Rebecca Foster (25.13).

Nick Cook (21.58) and Emma Davies (28.08) headed for Mallards Pike, while Jennifer Graham took on the Eastville parkrun in Bristol (23.55).

Gareth Bradbury (21.55) headed north to Skipton as Gavin Jones (45.36) ambled around the Old Railway Trail at Llangollen.

Faye Johnson (28.29) was in the Lake District for the Rothay Park event, while Robert Vidler (30.26) headed to Queenswood Country Park near Leominster and Pip Cottrell (32.28) took on the Victoria Park course at Newbury.

Meanwhile, club mate Tony Davies took on the Great British Bake Run Wales at the weekend and successfully crushed the half marathon distance.

Tackling the scenic and hilly paths around Dare Valley Country Park is no small feat, but Tony powered through to earn a well-deserved, sweet-looking themed medal and a mountain of post-run calories with a cake selection on display that would rival the club's own Blaze the Biblins event (Sunday, October 11).
