Following their first Regional One South West win last week, Lydney headed back to Devon where a clobbering awaited.

Director of Rugby Paul Morris was forced into numerous changes for the trip to Brixham following the five injuries at Sidmouth, writes Roger Pike.

Nick Selway returned to make a daunting front row with Mullis and Alex Seville.

Jack Knox and Harvey Heaven started in the back row with Drew Roberts making his season’s debut at outside half.

Brad Dunn moved to centre to partner Jesse Ribeiro with Max Turner starting on the wing.

The hosts totally controlled the game looking much the better team, fast to the breakdown, off-loading in the tackle and generally quick around the pitch.

Lydney have no consistency – a good win last week but an inept display this week and you would need to consult the archives to find a worse defeat.

Brixham were 12-0 up when Lydney finally got an attack going from a good break from Ribeiro.

Winning a penalty, they kicked to the corner but lost the resulting lineout – a theme that continued for most of the game.

Lydney got on the board when Dunn intercepted on halfway to score in the corner for 26-5.

The visitors did briefly rally after half-time.

Doyle Finch was again impressive in attack and defence. Some good breaks from Knox and Doyle Finch kept Lydney camped around the hosts 5m line, but they never really looked like scoring. Lydney emptied their bench but made little difference.

Despite scrum dominance Lydney could not capitalise, the back row of Heaven, Keogh, Knox, and Hudson were virtually defenders the whole game.

With Dunn and Doyle Finch working hard, a penalty line-out was taken and a Morgan French take was driven for Jack Cuthbert to score 40–10 but the game ended 71-10.
