Keynsham.....22

Lydney. ...........12

LYDNEY will not get many easier chances this season for an away win.

In front of a large contingent of travelling fans, the Severnsiders dominated the first-half but spurned numerous scoring chances.

However, in the second period, their set-piece disintegrated, winning virtually no line-outs and gifted Keynsham some easy scores.

There were some positives in a new-look side, the five debutants all performing well with the returning Tony Wicks and Jack O’Connell creating some good moves in the backline.

Wicks knocked over a penalty to give the visitors a deserved 3-0 lead after 10 minutes before doubling the advantage after 20 minutes.

Keynsham replied with a penalty of their own before Wicks restored the six-point buffer on the stroke of half-time.

Keynsham upped their game after the break as the Lydney set-piece was destroyed and picked up an easy try from a scrum to make it 9-8.

They were soon back on the attack and a Lydney scrum was disrupted, gifting the home side the simplest of scores for 15-9.

Lydney fought back but with limited ball were only able to add another penalty, pulling the score back to 15-12.

Deep into the second-half, the Severnsiders lost another line-out and, from the resulting scrum, Keynsham were gifted another simple try to complete the scoring.
