FIVE Gloucester-Hartpury players have been selected by Wales for the forthcoming WXV Global Series, with Kate Williams named as co-captain.

Williams is joined by Lleucu George, Hannah Dallavalle, Nel Metcalfe and Jorja Aiono in Sean Lynn’s 39-player squad for matches against South Africa, the USA and Japan.

Fly-half George has been with Gloucester-Hartpury since 2019, having grown up on a dairy farm in Pembrokeshire and started playing rugby with Crymych RFC.

Her international career began remarkably early, winning her first Wales cap aged just 17 after initially playing in the back row before establishing herself in the backs.

Centre Dallavalle is one of the most experienced players among the Gloucester-Hartpury contingent. The Swansea-born 29-year-old began playing rugby aged seven at Crynant RFC and studied at Hartpury College before joining Gloucester-Hartpury in 2019.

First capped by Wales in 2015, she has since gone on to make more than 60 international appearances.

Metcalfe represents the younger generation of Welsh talent. Born in Bangor in 2004, the wing and full-back played for Nant Conwy before breaking into the senior Wales side against the USA aged 18.

She joined Gloucester-Hartpury in 2024 and quickly made an impression, including scoring a hat-trick against Harlequins.

Williams took an unusual route to international rugby. Born in Swansea but raised in New Zealand, the flanker played for North Harbour and the Blues and also served as an officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy.

She joined Gloucester-Hartpury in 2023, earned her first Wales cap later that year and has since emerged as a leader within the national set-up.

Aiono is the newest Wales international among the Gloucester-Hartpury five, breaking into the senior side during this year’s Six Nations campaign.

Wales face South Africa and the USA at Cardiff Arms Park before travelling to Tokyo to meet Japan.
