CINDERFORD man Chris Mellor has launched a rugby programme at a school in Uganda after becoming one of 2,015 new rugby coaches to have been trained under the RFU and QBE Coaching Club initiative.

Chris, through his role at The Forest High School in the town, has seen how playing rugby can have a positive impact on youngsters and has become a level two coach through the national programme coinciding with the 2015 World Cup.

“Gaining my level two qualification has given my coaching skills a massive boost,” he said.

“It has taught me new techniques and skills and given me new ideas to help motivate my students. I’m really seeing the benefits in the young adults I teach.”
