MITCHELDEAN Ladies were made to sweat over their cup final hopes but will play in the GFA Women's Challenge Cup Final later this month.
Mitcheldean protested to the Gloucestershire FA after they lost 1-0 at Bradley Stoke in the semi-final on March 25, when it was discovered that the hosts fielded four ineligible players.
Bradley Stoke were expelled from the competition, as well as other finalists Longwell Green, who fielded six ineligible players in their 7-3 semi-final win at Cotswold Rangers.
The two expelled finalists appealed to the GFA but a hearing on Monday April 9 concluded that Mitcheldean and Cotswold Rangers would be the confirmed teams in the final on Monday April 30.
"Mitcheldean SC appealed to the Gloucestershire FA after discovering that the Ladies’ semi-final opponents, Bradley Stoke had fielded four ineligible players in the 1-0 defeat on Sunday March 25," a club statement read.
"The GFA ruled in the club’s favour and expelled Bradley Stoke from the final, with the Ladies replacing them.
"Longwell Green were also expelled having been concluded to have played six ineligible players in their semi-final tie against Cotswold Rangers.
"Both Longwell Green and Bradley Stoke appealed against this decision, but on Monday April 9 the GFA rejected their protest."
