THE SUN shone on a superb afternoon of in house football as Harrow Hill FC hosted their annual Hill Cup on Saturday, June 28.

Four sides made up of players from across the club (the Blues, Reds, Greens and Oranges) battled it out in a six game round robin tournament for bragging rights at the club’s home ground.

It was the Blues who came out on top, edging a closely fought contest filled with cracking goals, competitive spirit and plenty of support from the sidelines.

A club spokesperson said: “What a day for the Hill Cup! A brilliant afternoon of football with some cracking goals and great team spirit on show. Massive congratulations to the Blues on taking the title.”

The event was rounded off with a club darts night, bringing together players, coaches and supporters in celebration of another successful summer get together.

However, the afternoon was not without incident, as two players were forced off through injury on the hard ground. Dan Stephens suffered a suspected collarbone break and Liam Pinnock sustained a jaw injury.

“All of us at the club are thinking of Dan and Liam and wish them both a speedy recovery,” the club added.

Plans are already in motion to make next year’s edition even bigger and better as Harrow Hill continue to build momentum both on and off the pitch.

That includes a major community working day on Sunday, July 13, where the club is calling on local volunteers to lend a hand with essential repairs, landscaping and interior upgrades around the ground. Dubbed “DIY SOS: The Big Build,” the event is open to anyone willing to donate time, skills or materials to help Harrow Hill FC continue their journey from good to great.
