Gloucestershire Two

Cheltenham Civil Service 3

BREAM'S home game against Civil Service went ahead against the odds, despite the terrible weather.

The first-team pitch was waterlogged so the match was switched to the second pitch.

The slope, the incessant rain and the gloom meant it was hard for the sides to find any fluency.

Bream's early pressure resulted in a penalty for full-back Lance Evans.

With the aid of the slope the forwards laid the platform for hooker Sam Coombes to touch down, with Evans adding the conversion.

Civil Service managed to get out of their half with some good handling moves and were rewarded with a penalty after the ref ruled that Bream had killed the ball.

However, it was an uphill battle for the visitors after they had a player sent off for stamping.

The daylight quickly disappeared in the second half but Bream's training lights helped lift the gloom.

The home forwards kept the pressure on and from a scrum near to the service line scrum-half Zowie Preest nipped in for a try. Evans converted.

With handling errors increasing Bream centre Joel Lesperance showed his opponents a clean pair of heels to run in from his own half up the slope for a good try wide out. Evans missed the difficult conversion but it was job done for Bream, who remain top of the division.
