TWO weeks of hard work by Bob Morgan paid off at last weekend’s Somerset Stages, writes Paul Willetts, when he took the Winner Garage Cinderford-backed Skoda Fabia Evo to an excellent class win.

Morgan and co-driver Ade Williams finished 14th overall at the event, just two weeks after seeing his engine blow on the Cheltenham Stages.

The Minehead-based event was Round Three of the BTRDA series, and attracted a 130-car entry.

Sadly for the organisers, only 37 miles of track were on offer due to harvesting by the Forestry Commission, but still included two runs up the famous Porlock Toll Road.

The duo had a trouble free run with the new engine performing very well, although not having done a gravel rally for six months, they were pleased with the result.

Chepstow’s Sacha Kakad with James Aldridge on the notes took an excellent ninth overall and second in Class N4 in the Westbase Lancer Evo 10.

Ross-on-Wye duo Scott Partridge and Mike Jode in the Bullet Polish/The Belfry-backed Subaru Impreza scored more BTRDA points with 32nd overall and seventh in class, and now lead the B13 class.

The overall event winners were Luke Francis/John Roberts in the Lancer Evo 9.
