CINDERFORD'S top swimmers travelled to Plymouth to compete in the South West Regional Championships in the Life Centre's new 50m pool.

The action was delayed when a fire alarm went off but that didn't stop an on-song Dean Embling from reaching three breaststroke finals. He came 4th over 100m, fifth over 50m and seventh over 200m.

Nia Westlake made the 200m freestyle and butterfly finals. She came ninth and sixth respectively.

Billy Harris improved his best long course times for the 50, 100 and 200m backstrokes, as well as the 50m freestyle. Todd Montague, swimming at his first championship event, improved his best long course time in the 200m backstroke and took two seconds off his best 100m backstroke time.
