As Quakers, we are not generally preoccupied with religious doctrine. Most of us use the word Light nearly as often as the word God. Light is a metaphor for whatever it is that warms our hearts. Light does away with self-delusion and prompts us to follow the way of loving kindness writes Russell Hoy of the Forest of Dean Quakers

The Light guides us as we seek a better world.

At a time of crisis in the world, the things that society feels can be dispensed with, can tell us a lot about ourselves.

The welfare budget has been cut, as has foreign aid, with a huge impact at home and overseas.

Many in society can ill afford to pay more tax because they already struggle to pay for life’s necessities. But wealthier people could pay more tax. This would share more fairly the financial burden and allow us all to take steps to reduce the gap between rich and poor, privileged and disadvantaged, in our country and overseas.

How is the Light guiding us to take steps in loving kindness for a better world?
