TEENAGER Rowan Edwards, from Yorkley, organised a brand new music festival in aid of CLIC Sargent.
The event was hosted at the Viney St Swithins Social Club in November, and Rowan, aged 15, constructed the entire event with support from friends and family.
The festival kicked off at noon with Lucy Jarrett and local bands including The Dixons of Dock Green and the Baldwin Brothers performing all the way through to 10pm.
At only £5 a ticket, Rowan managed to run the event on a tight budget thanks to support from local businesses; Lydney Music, Newspace, the Nags Head, The Fountain Inn and Protec, helping to make the day such a huge success.
Rowan chose to donate the proceeds from Yorkfest to CLIC Sargent, in memory of his cousin Emily, who was supported by the charity.
Rowan said: "Over the last few years my family has raised thousands for CLIC Sargent through; bike rides, coffee mornings, cake sales, and donations. So I decided to raise money to this amazing charity myself. CLIC Sargent is a special charity to us, knowing all the support they gave my cousin throughout her last years.
Caroline Marshall local fundraising manager said: “Rowan has managed to put together a fantastic event. It’s amazing to think that at only 15 he can achieve so much.”
