A LYDNEY woman has been arrested after a crash which left an elderly Coleford pensioner fighting for her life.

The 78-year-old was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with a life threatening head injury after the collision on Thursday afternoon.

Her condition is now described as stable.

A brown Mercedes collided with the Coleford pensioner in Newerne Street just after 3.05pm.

The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.

Police say a 32-year-old woman from Lydney was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving in connection with the incident.

She been bailed to attend Gloucester Police Station on March 16.

Police are looking for witnesses.
