AN ORGANIC farm shop in Tidenham has set the ecological cat among the environmental pigeons with plans to build a wind turbine towering more than 300ft above the River Severn.

Hanley Farm shop owner Lyndon Edwards has applied to Forest of Dean planners for the go ahead to build the turbine on land at Severndale Farm, Tidenham.

Mr Edwards maintains the turbine would be virtually silent, eco friendly and would generate enough money, by supplying the national grid, to support local community projects.

But opponents to the scheme claim the structure would be a blot on the landscape for residents and visitors alike.
