CINDERFORD Town have made their first summer addition for next season, bringing in former Cheltenham Town striker Michael Whittington.
The 24-year-old from Bristol played for Almondsbury Town last season, but has also had spells at Forest Green Rovers, Gloucester City, Yate Town, Weston-super-Mare and Frome Town.
He's a speedy, workaholic striker who hassles defenders and makes himself a nuisance.
Whittington (pictured) played in the same Cheltenham Town youth teams as Craig Tait and Greg Lewis. He also made plenty of appearances for Cheltenham Town Reserves.
Cinderford Town spokesman Stuart Tait said: "He can play up front or on the right-hand side and will fit right into Steve Peters' plans. Steve wants more workers."
Whittington was a prolific goalscorer at youth level and originally seemed set for a professional career at Whaddon Road, until being released by John Ward.
Gloucester City took him on and the fans loved him – especially after he helped them get out of relegation trouble with some vital goals.
Cinderford also expect to have injured pair Matt Smith and Craig Tait back this season, although neither will be 100 per cent fit for the start of the campaign.
Both have been sidelined with long-term knee injuries.
Town are still putting together their pre-season fixture list and look set to host Welsh Premier outfit Goytre again.
The game with Weston-super-Mare now looks unlikely to take place, but the Foresters remain hopeful of scheduling something with Bristol City's academy.
Hereford United are unable to play Cinderford Town this season, but the Bulls look certain to come to the Causeway next year.
