GIVEN the recent comments about the possible merger of parts of Gloucester City and the Royal Forest constituencies, I wonder if anyone has taken into account the 'village idiot' factor?
Both the ongoing car parking and Tesco Coleford debates have shown that we already have too many elected village idiots of our own.
An early appraisal of the proposed area which the Royal Forest would acquire suggests that we could, potentially, have far more idiots than we need.
Has the Government body which looks into these things taken into account any kind of idiot dispersal scheme so that other areas will not find themselves deprived of their own village idiot and we shall not be overrun by the new intake from the idiot pool in Gloucester City Council?
