CONCEDING four second-half goals at Frome hardly provided Cinderford boss Paul Weeks with a happy New Year, but he refused to blame the defeat on a lack of match fitness.
"It's nothing to do with fitness, it's about concentration," he said.
"Most of my players are 19 or 20, not 42, they should be fit enough to play 90 minutes of football.
"It was a bit of a disaster. We dominated the first-half and they (Frome) huffed and puffed.
"I don't know what happened in the second-half, but we were all over the place.
"We didn't compete in the tackle. Half-time came at a bad time for us.
"Their first goal was a ball over the top that we didn't deal with, the second came from a mistake and the third was from a big mistake by Ben John.
"Their fourth was a great shot, but there's no way they were four goals better than us, although they did deserve to win on their second-half display."
Weeks insists he would not swap his squad of players for Frome's.
He said: "On paper, I've got a better side than Frome, yet they are second from top.
"I'd probably only take three or four of their players.
"If our individuals believed in themselves like their players do, we'd be up there in the top five.
"The difference is their players are more mature and a bit more experienced.
"They understand their strengths and weaknesses and don't try and do the things they are bad at. We've got a few who know their own games like Peter Macklin, who did not play on Monday, but most of my lot are still sucking their thumbs."
The games are now likely to come thick and fast – and that's the way Weeks prefers it. He added: "I'm not going to dwell on Monday's game.
"We've got Abingdon United at home on Saturday, Clevedon away on Tuesday night and Andover away the following Saturday.
"To me, that's a potential nine points."
