SURELY, after the massive support for the campaign to "Save Our Forest", as shown by the impressive turnout at Speech House Fields on January 3, the Government cannot go ahead with any proposal to sell the Forest of Dean.

When, not if, the situation that saves the Forest from sale, as shown in the 1981 legislation, is confirmed, there remains the question of the rest of the Forestry Commission holdings across the country.

In the Forest of Dean Constituency alone there are many such holdings which are important for recreation and conservation for residents and visitors alike.

These include Dymock Woods, which Baroness Royall mentioned in her speech, Lydney Woods, on my doorstep, and, in the southern part of our "patch", Tidenham Chase and the Lower Wye Valley, as well as many other smaller areas.

I feel it would be a help if you could publish a map showing a) the area currently protected, which is the subject of the HOOF campaign, and b) other Forestry Commission holdings in the constituency, which are at risk of being offered for sale under the current proposals.
