THE supermarket wars we have had with Tesco and the Co-op over the years have been ongoing.

Tesco bought the houses in Dockham Road to knock them down and put a long-awaited store there. In the end, the Co-op got its way and stopped it. The houses are left empty and are getting to be an eyesore.

Tesco has continued to try to bring a store to Cinderford but keeps getting knocked back, why?

Then, all of a sudden we get postcards to say they are putting forward a Sainsbury's to come to Cinderford.

Sainsbury's is an expensive store to shop at, it is like the Co-op. With unemployment like it is, Sainsbury's is the wrong sort of store we need here.

Tesco prices are more suited to the people's budget, you also get the points which help out when they are cashed in.

They are offering the same sort of deal as Tesco did with filling station and other things, but Tesco was turned down. It doesn't make sense, we need stores in Cinderford that are going to help people on tight budgets. Prices are soaring to run our homes like, heating and electric, water and taxes, we need help not punishment.

Also it would be a good idea to put an Iceland store where the old Woolworths was, that would bring people into the town and save them travelling to shop. All it is at the moment is an eyesore with white wash on the windows.

Come on the people of Cinderford, work to get us on the path to save our town and our pennies.
