I SHARE the concerns of last week's letter writer that the new Trinity School will cause segregation. Church Schools are always divisive. Have we learned nothing from Northern Ireland? Cinderford needs its own secondary school as part of the state system. To have only one secondary school and that one a church school means that the only alternative available is for those who can afford bus fares out of town.
What happened to choice for everyone? If the new school is everyone's choice, all well and good. If parents do not wish for a Christian based education but cannot afford fares for example to Gloucester, they are left with no choice.
Surely questions need to be asked as to why Cinderford cannot have a first rate state secondary school. Furthermore it is a cop out for the new school founders to say "Look at Trinity School in the North".
More information is needed about the actual plans for Cinderford for example provision for Special Educational Needs. Cinderford is being asked to buy a pig in a poke under the camouflage of the church. Much more information is needed if an informed choice is to be made.
