TIME is running out to resolve the daily bottle neck issue at the southern end of the A48, a Forest councillor has warned. Coun Gethyn Davies (Con, Tidenham) says there needs to be some 'joined-up thinking' between the Welsh Government and the Highways Agency in England over a proposed A48 bypass route before any more housing development takes place. Currently, the traffic on the A48 heading towards Bristol and London via the M48/M4 gets gridlocked as it leaves Gloucestershire and piles into Chepstow. Last week the Welsh Government came up with five schemes to alleviate traffic problems in and around Chepstow - and one possible solution is a new bridge across the River Wye.
