I READ with interest the letter about the puppy farm at Hagloe House Farm in Awre in The Forester dated April 3.

Many of us have written to the Forest of Dean District Council about this place. We have sent letters, emails, signed petitions and told them that a large number of us who live in the Forest do not want this cruel blot on our landscape at all.

According to the Save the Strays website, 126,176 dogs are picked up by local authorities annually and around 7,500 dogs are given lethal injections after seven days.

Buyers can forget that dogs can live for up to 16 or so years.

I cannot see one positive aspect in allowing these breeders to be allowed to carry on producing hundreds of pups every year whilst the dog rescues are having to put thousands of dogs to sleep.

I can only hope that planning permission is disallowed and I hope that we all stand up against this vile and cruel money-making business and tell the Forest of Dean District Council that we do not want this where we live.
