I FEEL I have to respond to your letter from the livestock farmer this week. Why is it we the anti-cull supporters are misinformed? We have listened to all the arguments from virtually every expert in the land from every field of expertise and made our own minds up!
You say we are not true animal lovers as we seem totally unconcerned about so many cattle being needlessly destroyed.
You say you see your animals each day and get attached to them, yet you are quite happy to send them off to be slaughtered when their time is up. For instance once they are no longer useful to breed from, not producing milk, being lame, mastitis etc.
Please, there is no sentimentality when it comes to farming, it's a business.
Also can you explain to me how some of the cattle diagnosed with TB are still getting into the food chain for human consumption?
I would imagine TB is a terrible way to end one's life but you have still not convinced us who passes the TB on, is it the badger to cow or vice versa? Why is it that not that far away from us in Wales they vaccinate?
Surely animal husbandry is also vital, such as clean fresh water in the troughs. What I have witnessed on some farms is murky and alive with pond like creatures swimming around.
I do not mean to offend but why are farmers always moaning?
As for Brian May I can take him or leave him.
