GLOUCESTER Police is appealing for information after a cat had to have its leg amputated when it was shot with what is believed to be an air rifle at close range in Mile End, Coleford.
The four-year-old cat called Lily was taken to the vets by her owner where it was discovered the pellet had caused the bones in her shoulder to shatter.
PCSO Pete Timmins, who is investigating the incident which was on Monday 11 September, said the cat was now recovering after the surgery.
He added: "We would encourage anyone with knowledge of this to come forward as this was a cruel crime on a defenceless animal."
