A LAND manager issued a stark warning to residents  last week following reports of people attempting to walk across a frozen lake, just days after four boys lost their lives in a similar incident in Solihull.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, which manages Woorgreens Nature Reserve near Speech House, issued the warning on its Facebook page on Friday (December 16).

The warning urged people not to attempt to access the lake “under any circumstances”.

It came in the same week that four young boys, aged between 6 and 11, drowned after becoming trapped in a frozen lake in Solihull, having attempted to walk out onto the ice.

Many users described the report of people doing the same in the Forest as “madness” and “unbelievable” in light of that tragedy, which remained at the forefront of national news throughout last week.

The post from GWT said: “It’s been brought to our attention that people have been trying to walk over the frozen lake at Woorgreens nature reserve.

“While snow and ice can be lots of fun, it can also be incredibly dangerous - please do not attempt to access the lake under any circumstances.”
