THE milk and newspaper delivery man Bruce Fisher and wife Julie are giving up their round after 18 years.
Bruce, who is 70 in April, delivers newspapers, milk and other produce to houses in Minsterworth, Westbury, Churcham, Blaisdon, Northwood Green and Rodley, helped out by his wife Julie.
Unfortunately he has been unable to find anyone who wants to take the round on so he has informed all his customers that the service will stop on January 30.
“It just feels like the time to stop,” he said. “It has meant getting up at 4am Monday to Friday and at 3am on a Saturday with five days holiday a year.
“People just don’t want to do this kind of work any more so sadly the service will end.”
The impeding loss of the service touched the people that the couple deliver to who contacted The Forester to wish the pair well in their retirement.
Bruce said “When we first started, the delivery round took us around nine hours to complete.
"But after almost two decades we are so much slicker now and get it done in half the time.”
Both Bruce and Julie wish to thank their customers for their loyal support over the past 18 years, many of them who’ve been on their rounds since the very beginning.
