MORE than a third of Forest voters backed UKIP in this week's European Parliamentary elections. The count of ballot papers took place at the Oaklands Centre in Cinderford. Here in the Dean, UKIP gained 8,359 votes, 35.15 per cent of the total 23,774 votes cast. The Conservative party came second after polling 6,497 votes (27.33 per cent) with Labour in third place with 4,268 votes (17.95 per cent).
