A MAN and a woman have been arrested following a drugs raid in Lydney.

Officers swooped on the house in Steel Avenue and found what is suspected to be heroin at the address.

A quantity of drugs paraphernalia was also seized from the property during the raid at around 1.30pm on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old man from the town and a 41-year-old woman from Tutshill have been arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin.

They have both been bailed to return to Gloucester Police Station on November 16.

Local officers were backed up by a police support team who came armed with battering rams, but they managed to gain access to the house without having to use force.

A housing officer from Two Rivers Housing was also present during the raid and it is thought the occupant of the address will be moved on as a result of the raid.

Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesman Chris Jackson said the raid was carried out due to reports from the community about possible drug related activity at the address.

"Drugs and associated crimes have a huge impact on the community and wherever we can we will take action to prevent it," he said.

Police have since dropped leaflets through letterboxes in the area thanking residents for coming forward with information.
