AT THE tender age of 11, young Guy Jones of Tutshill is believed to be the youngest ever Latin scholar to score an A* GCSE in the ancient language.
To make his achievement even more astonishing, Guy who lives in Tutshill, was taught at home by his grandfather David Griffiths, who is a keen student of the ancient civilisations of Europe.
His mum Janine Griffiths-Baker said: “We think Guy may have set a new record in becoming the youngest child ever to receive the top mark of an A* in GCSE Latin, sitting the exam some five years early.
“He has always had an interest in language and started studying Latin with his Grandad.
“Guy is planning to sit his GCSE Ancient Greek next June to see if he can do as well in that language as well.
“Again, he will be studying with his granddad, but as he doesn’t know ancient Greek they are studying together.”
