National League Two South

Lydney 17

Shelford 26

THEIR away form has been superb, but the Lydney faithful have yet to see their side in full flow this season.

Saturday's defeat to Shelford was overshadowed by a serious leg injury to Brett Turner that held the game up for around 40 minutes until an ambulance arrived at the ground to take him to hospital.

Turner had given Lydney a third minute lead with a penalty, but Shelford dominated the remainder of the half to build up a 23-3 lead.

Ranson scored two tries, with Harry Owens kicking both conversions and three penalties.

Will Jones was sin-binned on 34 minutes for going off his feet at a ruck, but scrum-half Mike Hagan dived over for a try just before half-time to keep Lydney in the game. Turner converted.

The injury to Lydney's fly-half meant a lengthy delay but when the game restarted Lydney scored a second try through prop Nick Selway, converted by Hagan.

Shelford made the game safe with another Owens penalty.
