I WAS pleased and impressed to read about the plans for the proposed Trinity School in Cinderford, on the site of Heywood.

The alliance of the current headteacher with the proven Emmanuel Schools Foundation and all the local churches looks like a strong one.

I have looked over the 2011 Ofsted report for the Trinity Academy in Doncaster which is the model for the new school, and it is obvious that with the right people in place, the Emmanuel Foundation can make a huge difference in a very short time.

It is encouraging to read statements like "The students demonstrated impressive levels of self-control. Their behaviour was impeccable. It was evident that they were used to the very high standard expected of them."

The challenge now will be to find those right people.

At a time when churches can feel increasingly irrelevant and so often seem to be mired in private arguments, it is good to see our local Cinderford churches working together on a project that will be so good for the community.
