A DISABLED woman was unable to go for her regular treatment because of blockages outside her home caused by roadworks.

Carers looking after 21-year-old Senna Taylor were unable to take her for hydrotherapy treatment while resurfacing work was carried out along the A48 in Alvington – and traffic poured through the narrow lanes of Spout Hill, Woolaston Common and Clanna Lane as an alternative diversion.

Residents of Spout Hill are also angry at the trail of destruction caused by the traffic chaos in Alvington and Woolaston.

The volume of traffic wrecked verges and caused hour long delays.

Teresa Taylor, Senna's mother, said: "We have a profoundly disabled daughter. My daughter's 21 and she lives at home.

"They (the carers) were waiting for more than half-an-hour just to come out of the entrance of the house last week. They couldn't even get out to take her to her hydrotherapy. They did manage to go out one day – and were stuck at the top of the lane trying to get back for over an hour."
