MOTORISTS escaped two separate crashes on the same road in Steam Mills without injury earlier today, Friday January 20.

The two collisions both occurred minutes of each other on Steam Mills Road at around 11.10am.

A yellow Citroen reportedly span into a lamppost near the Kwik-Fit and Murco garage, while a three-vehicle collision happened close to the village bowls club and the home of Rank Outsiders FC.

A Volkswagen Golf spun into a VW Polo after clipping a lorry, causing extensive damage.

An ambulance was on the scene and paramedics checked over the driver of the Golf, who was believed to have suffered from shock.

Traffic was backed up as far as the turning for the Forest Vale Industrial Estate for around an hour until the lorry moved.

Two care workers travelling to the Dockham Road Health Centre in Cinderford were in the Polo, and said they were safe and a woman believed to be in her 40s was driving the Golf.

“Thankfully there are no injuries from either of the two collisions and the driver of the Golf is being treated for a pre-existing medical condition,” a police officer at the scene said.

Curious residents commented on how Steam Mills is known for road accidents, with one claiming to have been clipped by a car yesterday.
