Cinderford Town 2
Sholing 0
TOWN put a major dent in Sholing's title hopes with this fabulous win at The Causeway on Saturday.
It was nothing more than the home side deserved.
Cinderford Town boss Paul Weeks said: "We made them look ordinary and could have won by a lot more.
"We played a narrow system, then brought our wingers on later and it worked.
"We always seem to raise our game against good teams when the ball is in play more."
Town didn't have to wait long to take the lead – Lewis Sommers coolly converting a Nick McCootie cross on 11 minutes.
Etheridge went close for Cinderford, while McCootie shot wide from a smart Dale Evans cross.
Evans was the home side's man of the match, working hard in midfield and providing some quality touches on the ball.
In the second half Cinderford continued to take the game to the opposition.
Andy Lewis had an effort blocked, then Lewis Sommers was denied by a combination of the Sholing keeper and the crossbar.
Sommers doubled the home side's lead on 53 minutes, producing a neat back flick to an Evans free-kick.
The game became stretched with both sides having chances.
McCootie and Billing went closest for Town, with the latter forcing a magnificent save from Sholing keeper Webber.
