Yate Town 1

Cinderford Town 2

NICK McCootie, one of Cinderford's finds of the season, fired the Foresters to another important away win in the Southern League.

McCootie, who scored twice in the County Cup win against the same opponents, netted Town's 43rd minute opener, then set up Lewis Sommers for the second goal two minutes after the break.

Adie Adams scored a 90th minute penalty for the home side, who have now lost their last four matches against Cinderford.

Ironically, McCootie trained with Yate before opting to join Paul Weeks at The Causeway.

Yate had the ball in the net inside five minutes but Scott Thomas was ruled to be in an offside position.

It was the visitors who dominated first-half proceedings with McCootie running riot behind Sommers and Billing. He forced a fine save from Ballard before breaking the deadlock with a tremendous curling effort.

The much improved Sommers scored his fifth goal of the season early in the second period. He raced on to a McCootie through ball and drilled his shot in off the post.

Yate went close when Thomas hit the bar, but Sommers also hit the woodwork from a Billing flick-on.

Lee O'Connor thought he had wrapped things up with Cinderford's third goal on 89 minutes, but the effort was disallowed for offside.

In the dying moments Yate were awarded a generous penalty for a foul on Reynolds, which Adams converted.

Yate pushed hard for an equaliser in stoppage time but Cinderford keeper Ben John denied them with an excellent save from Hale.
