Red Insure Southern League Cup

Cinderford Town 1

Clevedon Town 2

CINDERFORD conceded an injury-time goal to go out of the Red Insure Cup.

The Foresters snatched an equaliser on 87 minutes when Josh Egan outpaced the Clevedon defence and rifled home.

However, with extra-time looming, Lloyd Mills got on the end of a Hemmings cross to win the game for the visitors.

Cinderford created some good chances in the first half, but didn't make the most of all their possession.

They were also forced to reshuffle their defence after losing Greg Lewis to a nasty head injury. Danny Haines moved to centre-half and did extremely well.

Sixteen-year-old Connor Kingdon, making his debut, shot over the bar, but it was Lewis Sommers who squandered the best chances – just failing to get on the end of an Egan cross, then forcing a superb save from Dulawa with a header from a Dale Evans free-kick.

Clevedon took the lead on the stroke of half-time from a corner. Mills was left unmarked to shoot past Alex Harris in the Town goal.

The game opened up in the second half with subs Nick McCootie and Dean Lee providing Cinderford with an extra cutting edge. Dale Evans struck the woodwork on 73 minutes, while full-back Malcolm was thwarted by the athletic Dulawa.

An exciting finish saw both teams go for broke and it was Cinderford who scored next. Nick McCootie robbed Kington of the ball in midfield and slipped it through for Egan, who smashed home.

Clevedon went extremely close two minutes later when McKenna rounded Alex Harris, but he couldn't control the ball with the goal begging.

Egan had a superb free-kick tipped over for a corner by Dulawa, but Clevedon had the last laugh with a swift counter-attack in the dying seconds that produced a second goal for the hardworking Mills.

Cinderford Town: Alex Harris, Ashley Malcolm, Danny Haines, Dan Harrison, Greg Lewis (Dean Lee 33), Nick Hancock, Connor Kingdon (Brad Andrews 63), Dale Evans (capt), Josh Egan, Lewis Sommers (Nick McCootie 53), Matt Smith. Subs not used: Craig Tait, Matt Barnes.

CINDERFORD'S league match with Poole Town, scheduled for Tuesday night, was postponed because Poole had to play an FA Trophy replay against Chippenham Town.
