Lydney Town 2

Hook Norton 0

WITH Sam Elliott away and Dan Gittings suspended, Steve Warren came into the Lydney side. Promising under-18s player Luke Brown was also promoted to the bench.

Lydney struggled to find any of the rhythm that saw them go 14 games unbeaten in the league.

In the 18th minute Matt Timmins chased down a back pass and the defender's hurried clearance fell kindly to Danny Clarke, who clipped a 20-yard shot against the bar.

Soon after, Timmins intercepted another poor back pass, but this time his effort was cleared off the line.

Danny Clarke also shot over the bar after cutting in from the left.

Lydney survived a scare when Norton's Craig Chitambo broke free. His shot was hacked off the line.

Lydney finally broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time when Adam Price was brought down in the box. Mark Lee coolly stepped forward to slot the penalty.

The second-half was dour but Lydney increased their lead in the 53rd minute when a Ricky Elliott corner found the net via the head of a Hook Norton defender.

Timmins forced another mistake from a visiting defender but, with only the keeper to beat, pushed the ball too far forward and lost control.
