Stourport Swifts 2

Cinderford Town 1

CINDERFORD – seemingly unable to string a run of results together – undid Saturday's good work with this poor display at Stourport on Tuesday evening.

Admittedly, they were without Dan Harrison, Josh Brown, Nick McCootie and Andy Lewis. However, the players who came in hardly did themselves justice. Paul Weeks accused his team of 'doing more passing on the motorway than on the pitch' as an average Stourport side took control from the second minute with a goal from Insall.

Cinderford equalised on 14 minutes when a speculative 40-yarder from Sam O'Sullivan caught the Stourport keeper on the hop and flew straight in the middle of the goal.

Polan grabbed the home side's winner 14 minutes into the second half. There was plenty of effort from the likes of Greg Lewis, Warren Archer, Danny Haines, Dale Evans and Brad Andrews, but Town created next to nothing in the final third.

Stourport could have won by an even bigger margin but for two superb Ben John saves.

Even the introduction of subs Nick Hancock, Lee O'Connor and Lewis Sommers, in place of Brad Andrews, Max Etheridge and Peter Macklin, failed to inspire Town.

Committee man Stuart Tait said: "We had players out but we put out a decent 11 that should have come away with three points.

"The difference was they wanted it and we didn't.

"I have to say some of our present squad need to ask themselves some questions. Hopefully, this is a wake-up call."

Cinderford Town: Ben John, Dale Evans, Greg Lewis, Warren Archer, Danny Haines, Leon Jeanne, Brad Andrews, Peter Macklin (capt), Sam O'Sullivan, Tom Billing, Max Etheridge. Subs: Lewis Sommers, Nick Hancock, Lee O'Connor, Steve Peters.
